Week 13, Wel my partner is not very voictorious, although he is a great guy to work with. He has done well on the computer putting our presentation together. We are ready to do our presentation next week. I have enjoyed this class , although CK may not think that. She is a good instructor and I "really " have learned alot from her, as well as my peers. I do think that this class will be a valuable tool for any instructor , or parent basically anyone that does not have computer knowledge.

week 12

After viewing the voicethread, I don't think that I would be using this method in the classroom much. Although, it may be a useful tool I may use it to do one project or as an example, but not necessarily a routine lesson.

I think that for the most part many students will have enough trouble just learning about the computer, before teaching them how to utilize this page. I would like to know a little more about it. It does seem a little loke a blog with photos or a chat room of sorts.

Week 8 Blog

Our presentation is over the ever changing technology in the classroom, My partner in this project is John Armstong. I like him he is strong in the useage of computers and has some really great ideas. He is very easy to work with and does not mind doing such a presentation with a "dinosaur" as myself. Thanks John for all you do it is pleasure working with you.

Chpt. 7

Chapter seven begins with the idea that internet communication has not taken the place of face-to face interactions. In my opinion it still has to a certain extent. I tend to think that it is taken for granted meaning: that perhaps some may indeed use it as a "crutch," rather than a tool for communication. It is good that we can converse nationwide however, it is bad because it makes it easier for some to not make an attempt to have/develop social skills outside the "web".

Without trying to sound contradictory of myself, there are also advantages to asynchronous, because it does allow a person to respond when they are able; for example students studying abroad or any communication that does not require an immediate response. Students within the same class may converse in this manner to complete an assignment.

School educators are not going to be able to teach every form of technology that is out there or is coming in the near future they will simply apply what is neceassary for the students to move onward into the next field. However, they do the best they can to instill within the students the technology which will be of the greatest assistance to them in the future.
When asked, do I think that instant messaging is of value in the classroom?, No, I do not because we already have computers readily available within the classrooms, if not somewhere within the school campus that are for student use at any time. Instant messaging is just a type of convience/luxury for the most part. Text messaging also allows a person to short cut using acromyms rather that writting correctly or even having to rely on a complete thought.

Podcasts again are just another form of delivering information, they do not belong in a classroom setting unless it is part of an instruction, neither do video games. If these things are being used as example to make a point or as part of a 'lecture", then by all means use them; if not do away with them til work is over. Students must relearn to use their brain to create for themselves and not simply rely on technology to do it for them. In my opinion too much technology would do the same harm as not enough.

As a parent of five children ranging in ages from six to eighteen, no I do not/will not allow my children to watch/play video games on a daily basis. Although, I do understand the points made in the article that allowing this can make them better cooordinators and also inprove brain function, I think that there are better more constructive things that can take it's place.I must insist that my children first have a clear and concise understanding of what it means to be literate and how to utilize the skills that are instilled wihin them from birth. If technology fails us one day then they will not be a part of society that is lost. My children have learned to use other resources and incorporate the new technology to work together along with outside sources. Therefore it may be a great tool but I do not see myself using this in a classroom setting unless it is required of me to do so.

Personality Quiz

Hello my results are EFSJ -The caregivers, Yes I think that a learning style has to do with ones personality. However, I do not think that a personality test will help you much. You need to get to know your students and be familiar with them; for example, get to know who they are where they come from, why they think the way they do. Test do not convey all the meaning you need, nor does a test express emotions. Therefore to truly know is to see the emotions that come with someone , the personal approach.

Blog week 2

Blogs: I don't really know alot about blogs, wha I know I have learned in this class. I have heard alot about them and tweeter etc. Given the right context I suppose that blogging is ok. It can definetly be a useful tool in the classroom. It may well be the next communication between teachers and parents as well being that I have seen so many parents not involved in their childs education but they would spend hours on the computer, maybe they would keep up better with blogging. Who knows! I do look forward to learning more and getting know all of you if it has to be via blogging. Have a wonderful day

Chapter 4

Inspiration: This is an awesome tool, I do wish I had known about it sooner. So many times I have sat in front of the computer hinged on a deadline with "writers block"if you will. This tool will be very useful, students alot of times can come up with various ideas but not know how to put them together. I like the idea of the visual aspects as well, it seems very easy for a group to navigate around and work efficiently as a team;because it allows you to enter many ideas and save them as well as rearrange and use their imagination, critical thinking methods, cognitive thinking skills.

This chapter is very interesting, I do think that in this technological world we are living in today and future generations are coming into, we must utilize any and all tools to teach our classes. Therefore the use of the computer as well as pen, paper are all important. I think that if I am given the opppurtunity to use Inspration in my classroom I will definetly do so. It is such a magnificent tool that I had not been aware of until now. I sure could had used it when I was learning how to use the computer and learning how to write a good paper. I think that the use of computers and software is starting much earlier as compared when I went to school, the early child hood childen are already learning; although I think that it is great, I also wonder if it is the right time to introduce because they have not yet mastered recognition of grammar nor being able to write proficiently. As stated in chapter four this is true for most people and is very important, "In nearly all cases, however, writing remains a complex tasks that will require considerable supervision, encouragement, and, perhaps most of all, frequent and high -quality feedback from teachers."
